DIGITAL TOOLS
This course will introduce students to various digital tools, applications, and creative modes to share, distribute and produce art works. Students will expand their practice and understanding of how smartphone technologies, social media and online platforms can be used for creative outcomes. Students will learn to produce, assemble, manipulate and edit digital materials and to share those materials online and through print. This course includes lectures, readings, and activities. Students will build a learning community through discussions, collaborations, and field trips. Open to major or minors in School of Art + Design.
COURSE DESCRIPTION
COURSE OBJECTIVES
Students will apply their skills through fieldwork and projects.
●Understanding how art and design relate to the world around us
●Understanding how to use various digital tools for creative output.
●Understanding the print resources at Portland State University and in the city
●Understanding new methods for using own pocket technology, apps and laptop
●Understanding craft, process, documentation and presentation for digital works
●Learning how to approach projects, formulate ideas, and produce a finished piece
●Learning to critically evaluate your own work and the work of others.
